The Sussex Community Center offers many programs for seniors, such as meal-site program, a semi-fixed shuttle service, fitness programs, art classes and studios, basket weaving, card, game, knitting and crocheting groups, educational presentations, day trips, special events, and parties and much more.
There are no annual membership fees to participate in senior programming. The activities are open to all individuals in the community 55 years (60 years old for the meal-site program) and older.

The Center of Attention is published four times a year. The newsletter provides our senior community with multitudes of information about activities, events, trips, classes, seminars, support groups and resources. You can find copies of this publication at the Pauline Haass Public Library, Sussex Village Hall, Sussex Community Center, Alterra Sterling House, Sussex Mills, Bristol Court Apartments and here on the village’s website. |

Senior Shuttle
The senior shuttle provides an affordable transportation option that enables our senior adults to maintain a healthy, active and independent lifestyle. A detailed schedule is available through the link below or you can find copies of the schedule at the Pauline Haass Public Library, Sussex Village Hall and the Sussex Community Center.
The routes are semi-fixed, meaning, that pick-up and drop-off locations are routine. Round-trip tickets cost $3.00 each or 10 tickets for $25. Shuttle tickets can be purchased at the Sussex Village Hall or the Sussex Community Center. |

Waukesha County Senior Dining Meal-site
Fellowship, Food and Fun
Senior dining includes both senior dining centers and home-delivered; being low-cost and nutritious meals to persons 60 years of age and older, with emphasis on outreaching frail, isolated, homebound and disadvantaged older adults. In addition to a hot noon meal, the senior dining centers provide nutrition education, health information & screenings, outreach and support to older adults and their families. Monthly menus are available at the Community Center, on this website and on the County’s website at www.waukeshacounty.gov.
Reservations are required at least 24-hours in advance. Call 262.548.7848 anytime to make a reservation.

Adverse Weather
We do not make individual calls to registered participants. Should adverse weather conditions be eminent or exist, the recreation staff will post notification of the cancellations or changes in the most appropriate manner. We contact local TV stations to announce these closings. Tune in to obtain potential closings. Should adverse weather conditions exist or are eminent, the responsibility lies also with the individual to inquire about potential closings and cancellations. Every effort will be made to give reasonable, prudent and advanced notice to the registered participants by any of the following ways:
- Taglines on the local television stations.
- Placing notice on the Village's website.
- Placing notice on the Village's cable TV channel 25.
- Hanging announcements on entrances to the parks or facilities.
- Utilizing voice or email messaging systems.

LOW IMPACT EXERCISE
Every Monday & Wednesday
9 am - 9:45 am
Individuals 55 or better can participate in the low impact aerobic fitness program. The workout adapts gracefully to the changes of the senior participant. Call the Community Center to register at 262-246-6447.

Delicious food awaits you! Experience the culinary delights of Chicago. Join us for a behind-the-scene look at an Italian bakery, Italian delicatessen, a shop of spices, a chocolate shop, a shop specializing in olive oils and vinegars and a tour of a grand grocery emporium. Lunch will be in a French Bistro. There will be food tasting at each stop.

A CLOSER WALK WITH PATSY CLINE

Now you can relive all the passion, drama, glamour and the songs of Country Music's greatest legend in the stirring musical tribute A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline at the Fireside Dinner Theater. Cost includes a coach bus to/from the Community Center, a gourmet meal with tip for the wait staff and the show.

CARNIVAL-STYLE SENIOR PICNIC
THURSDAY, JULY 7
11AM at Sussex Village Park
Summertime will be coming and we will be grillin' up a good time at our senior picnic. Carnival games will begin at 11am with lunch served at noon. entertainment will follow with some toe-tappin' classes by Katie & andrea. Assistance provided by Home Instead Senior Care for the games.
Menu: BBQ chicken, macaroni salad, baked beans and watermelon.

BOERNER BOTANICAL GARDENS & GREENDALE

Tour the beautiful Boerner Botanical gardens in Hales Corner. Lunch will be in the Bartolotta Restaurant at the Gardens. We'll spend the afternoon in historic Greendale - a brief bus tour of the town, a visit tot he taste kitchen at Reiman Publications, time to look over the Taste of Home shop. Lunch included in price.

GOVERNOR'S MANSION & QUIVEY GROVE

First stop is at Bavaria Sausage Shop where you can buy cheeses & sausage. Lunch is at Quivey's Grove, a lovely four acre estate just outside of Madison. From there we are going to the Governor's mansion where we'll take a tour and then be free to look over the 5 outdoor gardens. Lunch is included in price.
