The Sussex Recreation Department offers over 100 programs, trips, and special events throughout the year for people of all ages.  Three Park & Recreation brochures (Winter/Spring, Summer, and Fall) are sent out to all Sussex residents and households in the 53089 zip code.  The brochures are located at the Community Center, Pauline Haass Library, the Village Hall and on this web site.  The recreational programs are held at the Community Center, Community Youth Hall and in the many parks throughout Sussex.

The Sussex Community Center is located at W240N5765 Maple Avenue.

The Youth Hall is located at N63W23625 Main Street.

Adverse Weather

We do not make individual calls to registered participants. Should adverse weather conditions be eminent or exist, the recreation staff will post notification of the cancellations or changes in the most appropriate manner. We contact local TV stations to announce these closings. Tune in to obtain potential closings. Should adverse weather conditions exist or are eminent, the responsibility lies also with the individual to inquire about potential closings and cancellations. Every effort will be made to give reasonable, prudent and advanced notice to the registered participants by any of the following ways:

  • Taglines on the local television stations.
  • Placing notice on the Village's website.
  • Placing notice on the Village's cable TV channel 25.
  • Hanging announcements on entrances tot he parks or facilities.
  • Utilizing voice or email messaging systems.

Registration / Reservation Information

IMPORTANT:  For the security of our customer’s information we will not accept over-the-phone registrations or reservations.

Mail-in

Mail completed registration form along with accepted forms of payment to:  Sussex Community Center, W240N5765 Maple Ave., Sussex WI  53089.  Accepted credit cards:  Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

24-hour Drop Box

Registration form and accepted forms of payment may be placed in the drop-box in a sealed envelope into the drop-box attached to the exterior south wall near the front entry doors of the Community Center.

Complete the registration form; including credit card information.  Faxed registrations must use the credit card payment option. 

In-Person or Walk-in Registrations

The Recreation Department office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Complete the registration form and prepare an accepted form of payment prior to your arrival to enhance the registration process.

Financial Assistance Scholarships

The Village of Sussex strongly believes that all citizens should have the opportunity to participate in Village sponsored recreation programs regardless of financial status.  Program registration fees are set annually by the Parks and Recreation Board. 

  • Applicants must reside in the Village of Sussex.
  • The maximum funding is three (3) programs per individual per year with a maximum of $75 per program.
  • Funding only covers instructional programs run directly through the Sussex Recreation Department.
  • Priority for funding will be given to youth ages 17 and under, but adults may also apply.
  • A current driver’s license and a utility bill, bank statement, lease or tax bill may be used to verify residency and must be presented for verification of residency.
  • Documentation supporting income information may be requested and presented as requested.
  • Applicants must renew their financial assistance scholarship request each year.
  • Applicants must allow two weeks for processing.  Applicants will be notified by mail or phone of their funding status.
