The Village of Sussex has a strong planning process for the community. The Village provides planning services, zoning enforcement, and building inspection with a small, but dedicated staff.
The Village has many planning documents that guide how the community develops. The Comprehensive Plan is the overall planning guide for the community. Sub plans like the Park and Open Space Plan, and Downtown Plan provide additional details to guide development.
In the near future the Village will be working on updating the STH 164 corridor plan and creating a STH 74 corridor Plan.
In addition to the planning goals of the community the Village also utilizes several documents to guide and shape how developments will look and feel. Those documents include the Design Standards, Land Division and Development Code, Zoning Code, Master Land Use Map, Border Agreement, Development Matrix, and Development Requirements.
