The Village takes an active role to promote recycling in Sussex. We encourage you to check out the following sites to learn more tips on recycling. www.recyclemorewisconsin.org www.besmart.org
.
Did you know:
- Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run your TV for 2 1/2 hours.
- Most plastics are recyclable, however not all plastics are recyclable everywhere.
- Recycling facilities work to keep similar papers together. For example, office paper, which has long fibers is worth a lot more than the "mixed paper" of cereal boxes, which has shorter fibers.
- All steel products contain at least 25% steel scrap, which requires 75% less energy to produce than "virgin" steel.
ELECTRONICS RECYCLING
October 26, 2009: Governor Doyle has signed a bill banning computers, fax machines and other electronics from being dumped into Wisconsin landfills. To find a location to drop off your electronics go to www.earth911.com. Type in what you want to recycle and your zip code to find a list of centers near you. |
