VILLAGE ENGINEER / ASST. DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS

The Village of Sussex is now hiring for Village Engineer/Assistant Director of Public Works. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who will play a critical role in the success of the Village of Sussex. This individual will be the technical expert for the Village and has the opportunity to work in areas such as:

  • Directing and coordinating engineering and construction activities.
  • Evaluating engineering and utility needs to develop short and long term plans to meet needs of utilities, drainage and public infrastructure.
  • Directly manage two budgets totaling $495,000. Assist in the management of budgets totaling $10 million.
  • Managing the Village’s Capital Improvement Program. The approved 2014 - 2020 CIP contains numerous projects.
  • Assisting with the management and oversight of staff.
 

 The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering or a similar field and a P.E. At least 5 years of progressively increasing experience in a related field required. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. No residency requirement.The starting salary range is $70,000 - $80,000. Application deadline May 20.

SUMMER TENNIS INSTRUCTOR

The Village of Sussex is now hiring for summer tennis instructor/team tennis coach.  The tennis instructor plans and implements the youth tennis lesson program for ages 5+.  The team tennis coach is responsible for coaching participants in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Position motivates participants to develop an appreciation of the sport.  Work begins in early June and ends in late August.  Lessons are primarily in afternoons and evenings.

SUMMER RECREATION INTERN

The Village of Sussex Recreation Department seeks a Summer Recreation Intern to work 40 hours per week from mid-May to late-August to assist with recreation programming, special events, park planning, seasonal employee supervision, registration, budgeting and other duties. This is a temporary position for the Department which provides traditional parks and recreation services. Wage: Stipend. Please reference the job description for position requirements.

VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION of WOMEN IN SUSSEX (VOWS)

For women of all ages who are interested in serving the community and meeting new people. Our work includes, but is not limited to food pantry support, Mother's Day Gift Bags project, monthly visits to a local senior home, highway clean-up, holiday toy drives in partnership with the Christmas Clearing Council, spirit wear donations, and annual college and Recreation Department scholarships.

Our social gatherings include book club, play groups, movie nights and monthly family outings. We meet at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month from September-May at Waukesha State Bank on Hwy. 164 in Sussex (next to Culver's). Guests are always welcome to attend.
